The more astute among you may have noticed that I got back from holiday nearly a week ago :) However I’ve finally posted the pictures from the first part.
Glasgow picturesI think there are some interesting pictures in there (and some bad jokes) but it might be a bit long - sorry. We were there for five whole days after all. It took me three hours this evening just to write that (after I had already sorted out and selected the photos, which I don’t want to know how long it took) so I hope somebody reads it. Not that I’m trying a guilt-trip or anything. ;)
Glasgow is a pretty good place to visit, I recommend it. The museums are good (we didn’t go to all of them this time; some we saw a decade ago when we last visited) and it’s an interesting place just to walk around, even if you don’t want to take pictures of tower blocks - the architecture is pretty impressive.
One anecdote I didn’t put into the text at the link above; the hotel we stayed at offered a ‘full Scottish breakfast’, which, translated, is basically a full English breakfast. Anyway, want to guess the nationality of the visitor who asked for porridge and was shocked they didn’t have it? And then asked for muesli, which they didn’t have, and brown-bread toast, which they didn’t have? No prizes. :)
There
was porridge in the second part of our holiday, which is probably more interesting to most people reading this; we stayed on the island of Iona, in the abbey. I’ll write about that, and post photos, next week hopefully.
